Warez are online cooperative groups that trade in copyrighted material. Patel, who used several online aliases, including "Nebula" and "Dact," was member of a highly secretive warez group allegedly responsible for large scale piracy. Patel surrendered his passport and was released Wednesday on a $100,000 bond pending further investigation. Among the suspects arrested is Chirayu Patel, an Indian-American student based in Fremont, California, who the Bureau has charged with conspiracy, criminal copyright infringement and aiding and abetting. ![]()
